Used to taste like a salty, wet stick or at least what I imagine a salty, wet stick would taste like. No they are still as nasty as ever, maybe worse since they don't cook them in lard anymore. (back when they were rated #1) My wife still wants a Happy Meal every once in a while and I get something. I did a 1/4 pound cheeseburger meal. Pretty bad overall but at least they didn't overcook the burger. I will let you know about the E-Coli tomorrow ;-) |

He is a school teacher and his students challenged him to eat healthy at McDonalds. Contrary to Supersize me, he said there are lots of healthy choices. The salads, non deep fried chicken, apple slices instead of fries. Leave the gobs of mayo and super sauce off the burger and the calories drop. |

The guy had a career from it until they found out he was a pedophile. Morgan Spurlock did a show (Super Size Me) about eating at McDonalds for a month and he ended up with a pretty bad outcome. I know they now offer “hand crafted” and other variants of the same thing. I be not seen a “mega Mac” even advertised. Like I said- in my area. They swear the standard patties are the same as they always were 1.6 oz (I was wrong with 1.7) Then there is the 4oz patty. That is uncooked so if they start with a fattier burger to start with, it will end up smaller and the longer they cook it the smaller it gets. I know at Wendy's where they fried burgers the grease was hauled away by the bucket and sold along with the used fryer oil. A little fast food gee whiz info. Wendy keeps the burgers on the grill until they sell (so they can say they are cooked fresh) and any that get too old on the grill go into the chili. That is why Wendy sells chili. They make the chili on site using the unsold burgers and a #10 can of instant chili sauce. It is "cooked" right there in the steam table pan. Another thing a lot of people don't know is the "shake" is just a powdered drink that they dump into that freezer machine along with a measured amount of water. It takes a couple hours for that to become a "shake" so it is the first thing they do in the morning. Since we had the register business at both of them, I spent a lot of time behind the counter and as part of the BK contract. our people were training the store managers. I ended up going to BK manager school and got a subset of the whole program. (the actual business end, not so much anything about the food prep or HR). It is really a pretty interesting business. When Wendy rolled out their new registers (a repackaged version of the PC based system BK used) it happened in Naples and I got to meet "Dave". |
