Coming your way and getting closer day by day.

You're not far from my son's store in Mt. Pleasant. It's
just inland from the Isle of Palms Marina.

Stop in, introduce yourself and grab a bottle for your
voyage. Tell Steve to put it on my tab. :-)

Palmetto 80 Liquors
1985 Riviera Dr #102
Mt Pleasant, SC 29464

His shop is noted for carrying many high-end liquors not
usually available in most liquor stores. He gets a lot
of ICW boaters especially in the fall who are heading
for Florida or Bermuda. Some have been stocking up
at his place for years whenever they pass through and
often spend thousands to prepare for the winter stay,

His place has been voted Best Liquor Store in the Charleston/Mt.
Pleasant area several times.

That's pretty close to my planned route for a motorcycle trip down to Savannah to see my daughter's
family. Thinking of taking Hwy 460 to Hwy 13 then down to Hwy 17. Has to be more interesting than
I-95.

That was the way you used to go to Florida before I-95. It was just
marginally shorter than 301 but I have done both many times.

I remember when the main drag to Florida from MA was US Rt. 1. My
grandparents drove it every winter to Saratoga back in the late 50's.

Once you get past Richmond Rt 1 goes pretty far west, through Raleigh
and south from there. 301 was a straighter shot, pretty much following
the route 95 takes until you get to south Carolina then 301 goes west
too, hence the 13/17 route. They all meet up around Jacksonville and
301 heads off to the west coast where we were going. Coming out of
Maryland you couldn't really get to Rt 1 without going through DC
(before the Wilson bridge) and that was heading the wrong way so I
always did 301 from there.
