Are the Girl Scouts gonna do the same?

Doubtful..

Meanwhile the Girl Scouts are ramping up their efforts to attract girls to them, anticipating losing some to the Boy Scouts. Seems they aren't happy about it either.

This isn't the 1920s, where you are stuck.
........

And I’ll bet you’re in favor of men using the women’s restrooms too

It wouldn't have been an issue when I was a Cub Scout and then a Boy
Scout/Sea Scout.

Little Scouts met at someone's home once a week. The bathrooms were
private, once person at a time. The monthly meetings were held at a
public school, where there were male and female bathrooms. When I
"graduated" to the older Scout groups, we first met in the basement of
a Catholic church, where there were male and female bathrooms, and
then we met at a synagogue, where there also were male and female
bathrooms.

It would have been easy to arrange proper "accommodations" when we all
went camping...in tents.

So, raising the bathroom issue when discussing the merging of boy
scout and girl scout units is silly. Sure, there may be times when it
isn't so easy to arrange things, but so what? Life is complicated.
Merging the genders makes it easier for working parents to ensure the
kids have the advantages of scouting without having the difficulties
of taking a boy to one place and a girl to a different place. Improves
socialization skills, top, I'd guess.

Ah ... so *that's* the reason.Â* Make it easier on the progressive
liberal parents instead of what's in the best interests of their kids.

Figures.

Today's parents have it a lot tougher making a decent living than
parents of my childhood years did. My mom was a stay at home mom, as
were the moms of most of my friends. They had the time to haul their
kids around to different after-school activities, like scouts. Today's
parents for the most part are both working to earn enough to support the
family. A scout program that accepts kids of both genders makes it
easier for everyone. It has nothing to do with progressive liberalism.

Both my mother and father worked when I was a kid.

My mother was also a "Den Mother" for a Cub Scout troop and held
meetings at our house regularly.

My father coached town Little League baseball teams for several years.
Practice was early evening, after work. Games were on weekends.

Oh, and both were active in the church. They both taught Sunday School
and helped with the church social events.

It's not any different today. My daughter raised two boys who were very
active in sports throughout their school years. She worked as well but
still found time to make sure her kids had a good childhood and, as
parents, were involved.

I was always very busy with work but made sure I was involved with our
kids and their activities. My oldest son was a football nut ... captain
of his high school team .... and I didn't miss a single game. Same with
the typical school day activities of my other two kids.

It takes a bit of effort but it *can* be done.

We are rapidly reaching a point where the left will be saying there is
no such thing as gender and we are all just humans. Some people,
mostly female, really want to resist that.
Personally I really don't care either way.
