Schumer's Shutdown

Leaked reports of today's last minute Trump/Schumer meeting indicate
that rather than trying to come to a compromise to avoid a shut down,
Schumer instead delivered a laundry list of additional items that he
wants included in addition to the Dem's DACA demands.

Basically he want's a "parity" budget, addressing all kinds of budget
issues that haven't even been discussed or negotiated yet.

In the history of the United States, there has never been a government
shutdown because of funding while the same party is in control of the
House, the Senate, and the Presidency.

If you are looking for someone to blame, blame Trump and his incompetency.

Nope. This one is squarely on the Democrats and in particular their
Senate leader Schumer. You can try to spin it all you want but even the
NYTimes has stated that the Democrats blocked passage of the budget.

Twice in the last two weeks, Trump, the guy you support, reached an
agreement with the Dems on DACA and, I think, CHIP, and then he reneged
on them. Schumer increased the pot by offering financing for Trump's
Folly border war and more for the military. Even the Republican U.S.
Senate Majority Leader says he doesn't know what it is Trump wants to
make a deal and stick to it.

You've really swallowed the Trump pill. Once again, your party controls

no-brainer for them to get behind and pass DACA that TRUMP alone killed
last September, and to extend CHIP. Schumer offered funding for the wall
and more bucks for the military, but Trump turned him down.

The Dems do not trust Trump to negotiate in good faith and work hard to
make his word mean something with his party in Congress. Why should the
Dems trust Trump to deliver DACA or CHIP? Answer? No reason at all.

DACA has nothing to do with passing a budget. DACA is a separate,
legislative issue.

60 votes Harry. 60 votes in the Senate.

Got a kick that the newly hatched Democratic Senator from Alabama, Doug
Jones, voted *for* moving forward on the budget bill vote. One of 6
Dems, if I counted correctly. Probably means Jones hasn't been there
long enough to become programmed by the likes of Schumer.

Well, then, if you have control of the Senate (a simple majority is all

guess you have to reach compromises with the other side, especially when

No it takes 60 to "control" the senate. In some cases it even takes
100. One senator can block a vote.

Harry, I just watched Chuck Schumer lay out all the blame on Trump
again, describing him as "impossible" to negotiate with despite having
had several meetings with him. He indicated that after thinking some
progress was made, an hour or so later Trump would reject everything put
on the table in their discussions.

After his scripted remarks some of the journalists asked some questions.

One of them asked if he and Trump had actually come to an agreement at
these meetings/negotiations. Schumer quickly answered, "No".

So here's my question:

How can Trump be accused of reneging on a deal when there was no deal
made to begin with?

Nope. This one is squarely on the Democrats and in particular their
Senate leader Schumer. You can try to spin it all you want but even the
NYTimes has stated that the Democrats blocked passage of the budget.
....

?Make it hurt...?

Twice in the last two weeks, Trump, the guy you support, reached an
agreement with the Dems on DACA and, I think, CHIP, and then he reneged
on them. Schumer increased the pot by offering financing for Trump's
Folly border war and more for the military. Even the Republican U.S.
Senate Majority Leader says he doesn't know what it is Trump wants to
make a deal and stick to it.

Your boy Trump is incompetent.

....

*my boy* Trump ****es you off. I guess that?s ok...

What budget bill did Trump veto?

I never said Trump used his veto. I said he backed out of a
negotiated agreement - twice -. Trump cannot be trusted in dealings
with Congress.

If he didn't veto a budget bill why don't we have a budget bill?

Here's your reason: https://tinyurl.com/yazxjp4r

Was he eating those old-school red pistachios before they took that photo?

The Repugnants have the majority in the Senate. They control it.

60 votes Harry. 60 votes.

Well, then, if you have control of the Senate (a simple majority is
all it takes) and you need 60 votes for passage of certain bills and
such, I guess you have to reach compromises with the other side,
especially when your party controls the other house of congress and
the white house. I wonder if anyone bothered to explain that to
******** Donald.

Not all politicians are mindless lemmings like you. Some vote their
conscience and others think Guam will tip over if too many troops are
sent there.

That is blood on his hands from the people who died because of his

Over on another news group that has gone astray in this trump mania
they are saying Schumer had 70 votes for a bill that gave Trump his
wall, saved DACA and all sorts of wonderful things. If that is true,
why didn't they call the vote? Was it because it would have never made
it out or reconciliation or was it just because Chucky's feelings were
hurt in a meeting?
If they had a bill, I say pass it and dare Trump to veto. THEN it
would be Trump's shutdown. We are not talking about what he says, we
know that is usually bull****. See what he does when it is on his
desk.
My bet, he signs it and tells us "It was the greatest bill ever" and
what a great negotiator he is. Let him sell it to his faithful, They
will bite if he spins it right and Fox agrees.
If you folks think he is really that deranged and stupid, he should be
easy to "play".
