Wow. A whole 5 of them...

All that winning... Trump endorsed not one but two Republican
candidates who ultimately lost their races.

Trump’s first loss came with Luther Strange, the former Alabama
attorney general who was appointed to take Jeff Sessions’ Senate
seat when Sessions became the U.S. attorney general. Trump backed
Strange in the Republican primary race for Senate, though he later
expressed some regrets about that decision.

“I’ll be honest, I might have made a mistake,” Trump said at a
September rally in Alabama. “If his opponent wins, I’m going to be
here campaigning like hell for him.”

Trump kept his word and endorsed the eventual Republican Senate
candidate, Roy Moore, even as multiple allegations of sexual
misconduct and child molestation plagued Moore’s campaign.

Trump reiterated his support for Moore as voters took to the polls
Tuesday morning.

I think black voters in Alabama and college-educated white women in
Alabama recognized Roy Moore as the worst sort of scumbag. Worry not
about Roy, though...he's consoling himself by visiting a shopping mall.

He was removed from his judgeships twice for breaking the law, and in

Moore was removed from office twice. From Wiki:

Moore was removed from his position in November 2003 by the Alabama
Court of the Judiciary for refusing a federal court's order to remove a
marble monument of the Ten Commandments he had installed in the lobby of
the Alabama Judicial Building.

Moore was again elected Chief Justice in 2013, but was suspended in May
2016, for directing probate judges to continue to enforce the state's
ban on same-sex marriage although the US Supreme Court had ruled this to
be unconstitutional. Following an unsuccessful appeal, Moore resigned in
April 2017.

Unlawful bible-thumping and religious bigotry did him in. Moore is the
genuine article: a real asshole. He's also a racist, but, hey, he knows
a Jew. I checked with one of my "Jew" friends, who was astonished to
learn there were *any* Jews living in Alabama.

Outside of partisan politics, the GOP and many of their voters did the right thing.

"Still, many Washington Republicans viewed the defeat of Moore as perhaps the best outcome for the party nationally despite the short-term sting. The fiery Christian conservative's positions have alienated women, racial minorities, gays and Muslims - in addition to the multiple allegations that he was guilty of sexual misconduct with teens, one only 14, when he was in his 30s.

"Short-term pain, long-term gain," former Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman, a Republican, tweeted. "Roy Moore and Steve Bannon losing tonight is big win for the GOP. ... Moore would have buried GOP in 2018."

A number of Republicans declined to support Moore, including Alabama's long-serving Sen. Richard Shelby."

Kind of reminds you of the last presidential election. :)

I doubt simply the fact that he dated young girls 40 years ago was

Bear in mind he is not a judge because it would not back down on the

Your typical judge election only draws a couple thousand dollars in
campaign funds and a lot of them end up running unopposed.
Most people do not have a clue who they are voting for. I frequently
leave those blank.
The democrats spent $9 million on this race and the GOP spent $4
million. That is a lot of money for any senate race and unprecedented
in a state like Alabama. The Democrats had $2.5 million extra they
could have thrown at this but they were pretty confident when the
other GOP senator came out against Moore.

One of the girls I dated while in high school later dated my half-bro,
who was two years behind me there and a classmate of hers. Haven't seen

I'm still friendly with four or five of the girls I dated in high

We had a problem...many of the 16 year old girls, the high school
sophomores, the pretty ones, were dated up the the Yalie freshmen. And
the older girls had already left for college by 18. In my late teens, at
college, I was dating college girls from Kansas City, Missouri; Topeka,
and Columbia, Missouri, which, back then was a male bachelor's paradise,
where college females outnumbered males by about three to one. At The
Star, I dated a gal I was introduced to by the Playboy Club hostess
girlfriend* of one of my professors and mentors. We only dated for a few
months, but she was a hostess there, too. And a college student.

* She, the mentor's girlfriend, was the grand niece of Albert Anastasia.

I think black voters in Alabama and college-educated white women in
Alabama recognized Roy Moore as the worst sort of scumbag. Worry not
about Roy, though...he's consoling himself by visiting a shopping mall.
......

What gets me is that if hes supposedly so evil then how was he an
elected Judge all those years?

Seems like all this stuff starts coming to the top (after 30+ years)
when he decides to run for a senate seat...

Politics....

I doubt simply the fact that he dated young girls 40 years ago was
that big an issue in Alabama. He got in trouble for other things and
there was very little support from anyone but evangelicals.
Bear in mind he is not a judge because it would not back down on the
10 commandments rock, not anything else he said or did.
Most of the opposition to Moore still came from outside Alabama.

I dated young girls 60 years ago. :)

And they are still in therapy.

Anyone who dates an eleven year old boy should be in theropy.

I was 13 60 years ago, **** for brains. I actually started dating for real
a year later...bicycle dates, tennis dates, and in the summer, at the beach
dates and boat picnic dates. I’ll bet you never dated at all.

Geeze, that didn't last long. I detected a better mood and upbeat
attitude in your posts (I assume because a Democrat finally got elected
to something) but you quickly relapsed back into insults and name
calling. :-)

I am careful to give your buddy FlaJim more respect than he deserves.

I went out with the daughter of a "made guy" in Elizabeth and when
someone told me, it was pretty scary. I had to figure out how to break
up with her without ****ing her off. ;-)
Fortunately for me she was quite the party girl and she "dear John'ed"
me right before I was going to have to leave. She actually hooked me
up with her girl buddy as a "no hard feelings" gift.
