Florida were either agnostic, atheist, RC, or Jewish. I avoided

Funny, the only people who do that here are Jehovah Witnesses knocking
on my door once in a white. They don't really talk about religion that
much but they do seem to have a tract I should read.

I suspect the religious demographics where you are were a lot different
than the part of Florida we lived in 20+ years ago. The last
"visitation" I had here was a couple of years ago. I forgot which
christian sect. Anyway, when I said I was agnostic, one of the two said
they had an assistant minister who specialized in preaching to
agnostics. Maybe I should have signed up, just for the laughs. :)

It often was the subject of gossip and hard news and experience. As an
example, the kid of one of my friends, a devout RC, was bullied in
middle school because she wasn't a fundamentalist protestant and went to
catholic religious school a couple days a week after public school. It
got so bad for her and a couple of her friends, the parents pulled their
kids entirely out of public school and sent them to parochial school.


You seem to either have had or know of people who have had experiences
that nobody else seems to have seen or experienced. Quite a full life, huh?

The last time a JH knocked on my door was in Tampa, FL in about 1971. They were pretty persistent,
so we got into a discussion about the length of Noah's Ark and who cleaned up all the poop from all
those animals. They didn't stay too long.

I've known, worked with, and befriended a tremendous number of people in
the approximately 45 years I've worked in the labor union movement,
people all over the country and in other parts of the world. I also
worked in the news business. As a result, I know how to talk to people
face-to-face, to get them to talk, and to listen to what they say.

How many years did you live in the bible belt, in a city dominated by
right-wing, ultra conservative, religious people.
