The democratic party primary nominating process must have taken its cue from the old USSR playbook. It was a foregone conclusion that Hillary was going to be the nominee. It was also a foregone conclusion that she was going to win the general election.

As controversial as Trump is, I shudder to think of what it would be
like right now with Hillary as POTUS.

Trump is the only one of the original 17 Republican candidates who could
beat her in the general. Sometimes things happen for a reason.
