Of course!

It is just a lack of imagination but that is not unusual in
government. If they were willing to consolidate readily available
government data bases they could clean up the voter rolls in real
time. Dead people on the rolls is the easiest. SSA has a very
comprehensive list of everyone who dies (enforced by a federal law
affecting the whole death industry). If a relative dies you might hear
from SSA before you get flowers from your cousin.

The same goes for people who move. The IRS doesn't seem to have any
problem figuring out where you live nor does the DMV of the various
states. It did take a few years but the Maryland DMV did flag my
driver's license renewal and asked me to make up my mind where I
lived. That was 30 years ago. I am sure the process has tightened up
considerably since 9/11 and "real ID".

ICE records would tell them who is a resident alien and who is a
citizen. The IRS knows who is here illegally but they have no interest
in finding them since they pay into FICA with no chance to actually
collect SS/MC. A win/win for the feds.
