1983 America's Cup challengers - Where are the yachts?

Hi,

I've recently been searching for 1983 America's Cup memorabilia and
was reading a book on the 1983 America's Cup. It lead me to wonder
what happened to the challenging yachts such as Challenge 12, Victory
83, Defender, Azura. Also, the defending yacht Liberty as well as
Freedom and Defender. I was recently in the south of england and I'm
sure I saw Victory 83 in a yard at Portsmouth - could this be correct?

I'm just curious what happened to these yachts - I know Australia II
is now in a maritime museum in Western Australia.

Any info to satisfy my curiosity would be greatly appreciated!

Kind Regards,

David.

Hi David

I read with interest about the Americas cup boats as i was in Australia at the time of the race and i worked for a company called Data General who were founded in America but had branches all over the world and the Australian branch put there computers into Australia II for the racing but my main question to you is that i have a large framed bit of memrobilia of the race in the frame which measures 5' 9" x 3' 7" are the teletext messages from Australia II to the Australian press on how the boat has performed and there are four copy autographs of Dennis Conner the skipper of Liberty and John Bertrand the Skipper of Australia II and two others who back Australia Alan Bond and Warren Jones Director of the Australian syndicate, the actual frame and items are 58 of 1983 made, and i was wondering if you had any idea were i would be able to sell this to, as i need to move it on now.

Best Regards
