Pocket knife
 

For most of my life I've carried a Swiss Army pocket knife. A friend, Carmen (the guy Harry helped
buy the Ruger SR1911), introduced me to the CRKT knives. They open with a 'flipper' at the base of
the blade, and can be opened and closed with one hand. They are *not* a switchblade!

I thought I'd have a rough time not having Swiss Army knife with the screwdrivers, etc., but I've
found I don't miss the tools much at all. Here's the one I've got.

Spyder knives have been around for a long time. They have a Loop on the upper side of the blade for one handed operation.
I was looking at one about 20 years ago but they were too expensive up here...maybe double the posted price of yours.

I have been carrying a baby Buck and a P-38 on my keychain for 35
years. That seems to deal with my needs. When I was working I also had
these that dealt with my IBM needs.

If you have a supple wrist, you can "throw" most lock back knives
open. It was a skill I developed in high school with the stilettos
that were all the rage then. That carried over to the full sized Buck
110 or the smaller Buck 112. You can even flip the baby open if you
hold the key ring and flip the whole knife body.

I've had one with a big loop for the thumb to open it. These are just much, much easier to open.

My P-38 is the one I got from my first box of C's in that place Harry worked for an unknown unit
finding bodies.

My p-38 got lost years ago. Never got anymore. I see you can get cheap ones in eBay in a 6pack.

Anyone who knew a GI in the 60s always had plenty. I still have some
50+ year old P-38s. My old roomie (marine) had accumulated a cigar box
full and he was handing them out all the time. It is still a handy
tool. I am not sure what grade of steel they are but I have never bent
one trying to get a screw out. I wish my screwdrivers were that tough.

I have a leatherman Juice. Small enough to carry, and the pliers and tools
are very handy. Pliers more than anything. And Leatherman has stainless
blades that keep an edge.
