We see these sort of robberies on the news from time to time but this is the first one I've seen with audio. |

Even up here where the crime rate is a fraction of Flordia's, we know better than to open the door if we can't identify who's there...especially at night.
Y'all southern boys sure are ditzy. |

Surely even you can understand how dangerous it could be to open your door at night when you can't identify who's knocking. Actually for someone your age and condition, it could be doubly dangerous. |

In my little torn in hayseed Illinois they'll let the grass get taller than that, then send you a letter to react in 30 days( which can make the grass grow higher) then if it's not cut in that time frame, the village will cut it and tack a fee on your water bill. Stuff gets taken care of really quick then.., |

Fairfax County Virginia became too congested for our taste. We wanted to live close to the Bay. The choices were Anne Arundel or Calvert Counties. Calvert won out for several reasons...lots of undeveloped space, farms, lower prices than Annapolis and very important, seven commuter buses a day to and from DC, an hour's ride for about $4. The sidewalks are for the kids. Kids do not have a problem walking or running on paths. Going to,grandparents farm as a kid, never missed sidewalks. Did like irrigation canals on irrigation days. |

I don't know of any schools around here ... and we are in a very rural area ... where school kids walk to school anymore. Seems like if you get behind a school bus in the morning or afternoon it is stopping in front of every house that houses a school kid. Often, the flashing red lights go out, the bus moves 100 feet or so and then stops again for another pickup or discharge. Problems with sicko predators stalking kids put an end to walking any distance to school. |

The elementary school kids in my neighborhood walk, but it's only about five blocks. They also walk to the closest middle school, which is about a mile away. In this county, middle schoolers are expected to walk up to one and a half miles, elementary up to a mile. |
