undergraduate affairs. “Language is the bridge between ideas and
action, so how we use words has a lot of influence on what we think
and do.”

The Tacoma Writing Center’s prioritization of social justice over
grammar resembles previous concerted efforts to legitimize incorrect
speech, such as Ebonics, “inventive spelling,” and “whole language.”

Yeah, that will get your resume' bumped up to the top of the pile.

LOL!

I guess the thinking is, if you can't educate the ghetto, dumb down
the rest of the people to make them look nominal. We certainly would
not want to criticize their illiteracy. Then we would be racists.
The only person of color who was brave enough to address this was Bill
Cosby and he turned out to be a pervert.

I taught bonehead English for an academic year to presumably bright male
college students. I was not impressed by their knowledge of and skills
in their native language. There are a couple of regular posters in this
newsgroup whose skills in English are at least as bad as my old students.

I have no idea what this phrase from your post means: "prioritization of
social justice over
grammar..."

I suggest you take that question up with the phd who said it. I assume
they are saying white guilt should make professors embrace ghetto
gibberish in a writing class.

Well, I know what social justice is...I've never heard the phraset used
in connection with "proper" use of the English language.

Seems as if common use of social justice is do not criticize any minority
group these days.

I think that is exactly what these PC morons are trying to say.
We are supposed to judge an illiterate without the power of the
language, the same economic, political and social opportunity we would
give a guy like you who does actually speak and write english.

And of course the irony is, that the overly PC apologists ultimately
hurt the very cause that they advocate.

If you can not understand the meaning of that phase, there is little help
for you.

"Social justice" typically refers to trying to provide equal economic,
political and social rights and opportunities. Oh, I forgot...this is
rec.boats, and words and phrases can mean whatever the typical
right-wing poster wants them to mean.

Hey, its a free country. Left wing lemmings are also free to
interpet words and phrases any way they want,(pause),that is if
they are able. Interpet this if you can. KRAUSE IS A FLAMING
ASSHOLE.

With your lack of language skills, it is no wonder you support that con
artist, Trump.
