Tim Kaine ... whoops

Keeping the recent violent demonstrations in mind, Hillary's former VP
pick might want to tone down his rhetoric.

Last week he appeared on "Morning Joe" and said that Democrats must
take advantage of "public outcry against the [Trump] administration]."
He encouraged Democrats to fight back in Congress, the courts, and in
the streets. Specifically he said:

"What we've got to do is fight in Congress, fight in the courts, fight
in the streets, fight online, fight at the ballot box, and now there's
the momentum to be able to do this,"

Hmmmm...

Here's Section II of the Sedition Act of 1918:

SECTION II. Punishes seditious writings.

1. Definition of offense:

To write, print, utter or publish, or cause it to be done, or
assist in it, any false, scandalous, and malicious writing
against the government of the United States, or either House of
Congress, *or the President, with intent to defame, or bring
either into contempt or disrepute, or to excite against either
the hatred of the people of the United States,* (emphasis mine)
or to stir up sedition, or to excite unlawful combinations
against the government, or to resist it, or to aid or encourage
hostile designs of foreign nations.

2. Grade of offense:

A misdemeanor.

3. Punishment:

Fine not exceeding $2000, and imprisonment not exceeding two
years.

Just forwarded your post, with minor changes, to the Department of Justice:

Senator Tim Kaine - Sedition

Last week Senator Kaine appeared on "Morning Joe" and said that Democrats must
take advantage of "public outcry against the [Trump] administration]."
He encouraged Democrats to fight back in Congress, the courts, and in
the streets. Specifically he said:

"What we've got to do is fight in Congress, fight in the courts, fight
in the streets, fight online, fight at the ballot box, and now there's
the momentum to be able to do this,"

Section II of the Sedition Act of 1918 says:

SECTION II. Punishes seditious writings.

1. Definition of offense:

To write, print, utter or publish, or cause it to be done, or
assist in it, any false, scandalous, and malicious writing
against the government of the United States, or either House of
Congress, *or the President, with intent to defame, or bring

or to stir up sedition, or to excite unlawful combinations
against the government, or to resist it, or to aid or encourage
hostile designs of foreign nations.

2. Grade of offense:

A misdemeanor.

3. Punishment:

Fine not exceeding $2000, and imprisonment not exceeding two
years.

I urge you to investigate this matter and take appropriate action.

Thank you

The SCOTUS ruled in SCHENCK v. U.S that this kind of rhetoric was akin
to crying "fire in a crowded theater" and Schenck was just peacefully
protesting the draft. The people Kaine is soliciting have demonstrated
a willingness yo use arson, assault on police and destruction of
property. His statement may be actionable and Trump might be just the
guy to do it.
It sounds like Kaine is just another sore loser who will burn down the
country if he can't win.
