MSNBC ... not exactly a pillar of conservatism ... just broke the news that the 2 page intel report regarding Trump's alleged connection to Russia was *not* presented to Trump (the media originally claimed he had been "briefed" on it's contents) and, in fact, the only purpose it existed was to demonstrate to Trump, if necessary, the type of unverified and unsourced info that is *not* considered or used by the intel agencies and what it looks like. In the briefing with Trump it was determined that it was not necessary to present it and it was not. So, seems the Donald told the truth when he said he was not briefed on anything related to "dirt" Russia has on him. I find it odd that the same people who complain about the russian bombings were silent when it was Bush/Clinton/Bush doing it in Iraq. (in the "no fly zone" days) We simply denied it when they said up to 250,000 people died. We should also note that if we were not getting a ride from the russians we would not have a manned space program. Maybe it is time to admit, we are both stronger together than we are fighting with each other. If Trump can make that happen, we are all better off. |

They were "free" but they also became responsible for their living expenses that their wages barely covered. The main difference is they had the opportunity to move north and be exploited by northern racists in slave wage sweatshops. |

No, Tim, it is the lower income classes who are "in" for endless problems, because Trump and the Repugnants will **** them royally over and over in order to line the pockets of the wealthy. |

Harry, the 'lower income classes' have had 'endless problems' for years. We get stuck fighting the wars and paying the bills while annually, more strife and debt gets piled on our shoulders. Maybe haven't noticed but over the centuries, that's how it seems to work. You can always count on the middle/little guy taking the porking. Always. The last guy from *your* party wasn't a champion for the "lower income classes" causes either. So, whats new... |

It was a way to placate the South's slaveowners. That is revisionist bull**** Sorry, but I'm not willing to accept the opinions and ruminations of a totally uncredentialed, self-described "historian" who thinks slavery should have continued beyond the Civil War. Are you just acting stupid or do you have reading comprehension problems? My contention is that slavery would have fallen from it's own weight if the north and the europeans you hold in such high regard had simply refused to buy slave produced goods. It was a financially driven institution and if the finances stopped making sense, the institution would have failed. After the war the actual conditions for the freed slaves did not change much. Certainly they had the option to quit their job after 1865 but they did not have much opportunity to do anything else. Most stayed on as share croppers or slave wage employees. Living conditions, job safety and actual take home wages were not any better in the coal mines or sweat shops that were staffed by "free men" up north and that continued well into the 20th century (some say even now). |

The strange thing about that statement is there are more millionaire/billionaire democrats than there are millionaire republicans. Trump voters are the working class. You only have to look at the election map to see that. The democrats get the masses of votes in the cities from people who do not work at all. |
