Mr. Luddite December 1st 16 05:37 PM

Thank you, Rachael Maddow

Been fighting an early winter cold and have been feeling pretty horrible
for a couple of days. Last night a fever developed and I went to bed to
sweat it off. Unable to sleep in a pool of sweat, I put the
bedroom TV on and decided to see what Rachael was complaining about. She
got me fired up, the fever broke and now I am feeling much better.

She was giggling, high five-ing herself and trying to make a mockery of
the deal made by Trump and Pence with Carrier in Indiana. She claimed
Carrier was "bought" to save the 1000 jobs.

She reminded her audience that Trump had threatened to impose a 35
percent tariff on goods made by American companies that moved
manufacturing to Mexico during the campaign phase. She hysterically
pointed out that he didn't do this in the Carrier situation.

Here's what giggling Rachael's PhD mind just doesn't get:

Trump couldn't impose a tariff on Carrier. He's not the POTUS yet.

As for the tax incentive ... they are common in a number of states that
are trying to motivate or solicit businesses to locate or expand within
their borders. For example, New York has had several programs since 1996
that offer companies 10 years of *tax free* status to locate their
business within the state.

If Rachel thinks Carrier was "bought" to keep 1000 jobs in Indiana by
giving a state tax incentive, imagine how she's going to feel when Trump
cuts the *federal* tax burden on business from 35 percent to 15 percent
*and* imposes the 35 percent tariff on those who still want to move
manufacturing offshore.

Enjoy er since mom was in the nursing home, the wife and I have gotten the yearly flu shot. Knock on wood.....haven't been sick since, just the odd sniffle and runny nose. If I feel a bit of congestion developing in my throat I dig out a Ricola Cherry Honey throat lozenge. Works fine.

Actually, we were able to decipher what you said. And, I, for one, am extremely glad that a throat
lozenge solves all your physical problems. Of course, you've got Dr. Phil for the other problems,
yes?

"Just trash it."

We Canadians aren't quite as wasteful as y'all south of the border.
Throwing something out while still somewhat useful would stick in my craw.

I have the same thought about computers but Harry beats me up about
it. I guess we are talking about a computer tho.
If you decide to throw it away I will pay for shipping to Florida
