Watching Boston news on NBC this morning and I'm sure the announcer said Trump was going to appoint Sarah Palin as Secretary for Veterans Affairs.
Does he really think that little of vets? I'll have to keep up with 'merican news to see this play out.

Actually Don, she might do a good job. As a governor she was well liked and fairly efficient on Alaskas focal matters. The least she can do is bumble things and get fired like what Bill Clinton was forced to do with mrs. Elders after she was appointed surgeon general.

Speakers nog of surgeon general I'd think that would have been better suited for Ben Carson.

Anyhow. That whole team has 4 years to prove itself, or maybe less...

Here for just a moment or two for a few giggles, and of course Sarah
Palin is always high on the giggle list. I would have said it was hard
to believe anyone would appoint a corrupt nincompoop incompetent like
Palin to any high federal post, but we're talking about Donald Trump,
and most of his appointments and plans so far have been and will prove
to be horrific for those who are not wealthy. And corrupt.

Did you see the deal he cooked to keep some of the jobs Carrier Air
Conditioning wanted to move to Mexico in Indiana? That's the usual
bull**** politicians in states play...they bribe a company to stay where
they are instead of deserting a city in search of lower wages and less
environmental controls.

Saw an old movie last weekend with a scene that reminded me of Trump's
upcoming cabinet meetings and, of course, of the right-wing gaseous
emitters in rec.boats. Same noises, same smells.

You mean, like President Clintons appointment and the DOJ payoff of Raines?
He and his cohort fudge the books at FannieMae and get $100 million in
bonus, and have to give back $10 million and no prosecution.

As for the Sarah Palin "thing":

Unless something new has happened in the past 24 hours, the "Boston"
reporter I heard said that Palin had contacted the Trump transition
team, not the other way around. They did not solicit her for anything.
The media picked up on it and began speculating as to what role she
could play. The media is responsible for the Secretary of Veteran
Affairs position rumor, not any formal announcement of consideration by
the Trump team. Basically, she's looking for a job.

It sounds like the same deal Cuomo and Jerry Brown are using to stop
flight from their unionized, high tax states.
If Pence was from Tennessee, the deal would have just been to move
there.

Does he really think that little of vets? I'll have to keep up with
'merican news to see this play out.

As a vet, which you sure as **** aren't, I think he made a great
choice! We need more racist,
mysoginistic, homophobic, xenophobic (especially) Repugnants in high level positions.

Now STFU.

Say what? JohnnyMop...y'all seem to get more obnoxious the closer we
get to your saviour's birthday. An independent outside observer might
find that to be very anti-Christian like behaviour.
What's up with that?

'your savior's' ? Are you attempting to renounce your religion now?

The only thing I "renounce" is the agitating, instigating and irritating
behaviour of y'all and your bowl of turds.

You post a statement like this, and say you renounce such behavior? Do you
own a mirror?

The why the term 'your saviour's birthday'?

Again, get your head out of the toilet. You're not a janitor any more.

Don, it WAS infested with "Yankee dollars" before Caster and they're still getting some of those "dollars" from gitmo.

Unless I'm really missing something, Canada has open trade and a lot of tourism with the island for years. Just curious, what happened to all those Canadian "dollars" they've had for over 50 years?

Yes and up to 1959 'the mob' had a big influence on things down there.
I would imagine the Cubans used Canadian dollars to help them survive...especially since 1990.

If the canadians are as tight with their money in Cuba as they are
here, I can see why the Cubans are still broke.

Could be. I know Havana was a haven of gambling, prostitution, and corruption n general, but a lot of money flowed the streets. People still drive 1957 cars there. Loaded with bailing wire and homage parts but still running. I'd say that 1959 on was the end of their prosperity...

Castro was the end of the prosperity ... at least for the 5%. The guy
living out in the countryside chopping sugar cane probably has not
seen that much difference, It may have actually got better because he
is doing almost as well as the doctor he gets to see for free. You
notice, with the exception of the criminals Castro shipped us from
Mariel, the Cubans who move here are striving for more than a
subsistence job and they are highly motivated.
I think that is true of most latinos. (perhaps with the exception of
those who go to sanctuary cities with a robust welfare system)
That is one reason why I don't have a lot of sympathy for black people
here. We have Latinos clawing their way across the desert or swimming
across the Rio Grande with nothing but what they can carry. They
usually don't speak the language and with the exception of the Cubans
they have little or no education. There is certainly the same or
greater levels of discrimination but they still seem to find work,
advance and become productive Americans in an economic climate where
there are a record number of anglos and blacks who say there is no
work.
When I am hiring people, price is not the main thing I think of and I
still want a crew of little brown guys. I do get criticized from the
building people we know. They say I have union mexicans because I pay
them what the ask and toss in a generous completion bonus.
