Goats, I need goats...

It's been raining pretty much every day for more than a week, and the
lawn is about out of the capability of my lawn tractor to mow it
down...It's either goats, or my landscape guy with his high powered
cutter for $150. Grrrr....

Huh?
What kind of lawn tractor won't cut the grass, no matter how high it
is?
When I was doing the neighbor's yard I cut down some Cogan grass that
was over 4' high. I had to back up and crash into it a couple times on
each clump.

Well, perhaps it is because I don't like to leave a mess of clumps of
cut grass...but my mower deck starts to choke when the grass is more
than 6" high, which it happens to be. The landscape guy has one of those
high-powered zero turn circle jobs that looks as if it could mow down
the forest primeval.

You must have it set up to mulch. I run over the stuff, then run back
over the clumps if I have them. I usually try to stay on top of this
stuff but when I was doing the neighbors yard it was out of my
control. When it was vacant, the bank only cut it when the county gave
them a ticket so I was doing it.

Harry, we have the same problem here with rain every 3 days keeping the ground soggy. Whatever done with my push mower is taken off the factory mulching blade and installed a regular straight bar blade, set the mower in a higher than normal position and cut my grass. Then a couple days later ( between rains) after the cuttings ha be settled in a bit, I lower the deck a bit more and mow again. Grass doesnt clog or clump as bad that way...
but ymmv though

$150 to mow 1/4 acre. Gotta be a union grass cutter.

I've had no trouble cutting mine with a regular 21" power push mower. Of course, I mow it every
three or four days this time of year.
