John, one thing He left out "Serious enquiries only!" That line always cracked me up.

Before caller ID a buddy used to call sellers that put this line in their ads and keep them on the line before they started cussing him out. But he could time it just right and hang up on them before their rant was over. Lol!

I was just looking at Craigslist for Honda Silverwing scooters. Came across this ad:

https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/...557127636.html

That is one beautifully maintained bike, at least on the exterior. I'm surprised he's not asking
about $6000 for it as an 'antique'. I sent him an email telling him how nice it looked, and that it
catches my attention as a Guzzi rider. I rode one of those, back when, and thought it very top-heavy
for tight maneuvering. But, on the road they are very comfortable bikes. Wonder how hard it would be
to get parts for the thing now.

That is why I like old Harleys, You can get "tractor parts" at any
feed store to fix them (or so the jap bikers say) ;-)

There is some truth to that statement. Lots of the parts are off the
shelf from any equipment supply counter.

Been getting a mild itch to buy a bike again after not having one for
about 3 years. Last two were Harley Ultra Classics which were nice but
I don't want anything that heavy now. Need to Google around and see
who makes what. A Softtail would probably be ok but I've always had an
interest in BMW's as well. Want something in the 600lb-700lb or so
category, must have a windshield or option for one and, unlike the
Harley's, I am interested in *quiet*.

Richards, have you considered the new generation of Triumph? Over thee lasst several years they've received a lot of great reviews

I'd love to have a new Thunderbolt myself.

I'll take a look. Really just started thinking about it. Might look
at some of the new "scooters" that several manufacturers are offering.
Was just looking at BMW's website and they have a 650 cc "scooter" that
looks pretty cool. I am just looking for something to tool around town
on. Not thinking of any long distance touring.

Great minds...etc. I've been looking at the Honda Silverwing. Haven't checked out the BMW. The Honda
has plenty of leg room, which isn't there on the Yamaha or Suzuki scoots. The BMW is a pretty good
sized machine.

I am pretty good sized myself. The BMW's 60 hp should do it.

Anything with 600+cc's should do it!

My Dutch friend stopped motorcycle riding and bought one of these:

It's big enough to take on the autobahn's and works well for both he and his wife to make local
trips in Holland. But, the handlebars hit me in the knees when making 'parking lot' maneuvers. He is
the type who would have put a lot of research into the various scooters before buying one.
