They give you a free 3 month subscription or something when you buy a new, Sirus equipped vehicle and then hound the bananas out of you to set it up and subscribe. I had a Sirius subscription way back when they first started and took advantage of a "free" lifetime offer for $300. They seem to have lost records of that. I unsubscribed from all their emails. Don't need it. I figured out how to pair my cell phone via Bluetooth and downloaded the Nissan app that allows me to go on-line in the car. Subscribed to the free version of Pandora. That's good enough in addition to local radio. |

Once you are on their Radar they will offer you all sorts of deals to stay or to restart the service. I don't think she ever paid $20 tho. (at least not on purpose) I get it as part of my Dish package. I never had it in the car. I don't listen to any kind of radio. I am an MP3 guy. I have my music in anything I am driving. It is hard too find a car these days without a USB port. |

"$20 a month to listen to the radio in the truck after a three month free trial? People do this?" I had the 3 month freebie also, three years ago. I've negotiated with them a few times and the best they offered was $72 for a year. I only travel in the May-October time period so I wanted a deal on 6 months. I really only wanted the '60s rock music. Couldn't agree on a pkg so I enjoy the two week free service each spring. Trouble is half the time has elapsed before they notify me that it's available. |

One thing about 60s music, or any other "decade" group is they are not making any more so MP3 is an excellent way to hear it. The only argument anyone has made to me that makes sense is I never hear anything new but I have my wife and a daughter scouting that out for me. |

It's highly compressed and sounds like it. Almost no stereo image, no dynamic range. Dull and flat. My car has a hard drive I can rip CDs to, and bluetooth for the itunes on my phone. They, and the HD FM tuner, sound so much better than Sirius I just can't listen to it anymore. When I called them to not renew, the guy got really ****ed when he asked why and I told him it sounded like ****. :-) |

I had PCs in my cars for years but when all of my socket 7 boards stopped working I bit the bullet and bought real MP3 players to replace the factory radio. I still miss the PCs Newer faster PCs don't seem to be able to tolerate the Florida heat as well. A P4 machine gave up the ghost pretty fast. It would not start up until the car cooled down. I really wish I could find a player, hardware or software that works as well as the DOS based MPXPLAY. I real;ly like the idea of using a numeric pad to select songs, jukebox style. All of the players in the house run MPXPLAY. Attila the Hungarian has written a version that runs natively under XP but it is still basically a DOS program, written in C. It is free. |
