April showers ... brings out the shovels
Snowed pretty much all day yesterday. Not overly heavy, but persistent.
Total snowfall this morning ... April 5th for cripes sake ... was 6 to 8 inches. Temps will stay in low 30's during the day today, dropping to the low 20's overnight. Then a warm-up with another low coming through on Wednesday with the forecasts of over an inch of rain. Flood time. |

"Temps will stay in low 30's during the day today, dropping to the low 20's overnight. Got up early (for me) this morning to brush and scrape the snow and ice off my Highlander. Had an 0830 appointment at the local Toyota dealer to have the front hood seal replaced under warranty. Toyota rubber gaskets don't seem to like the chemicals sprayed on during yearly application of Krown Rustproofing. Got home and had to shovel the front steps and spread rock salt on the city sidewalk in front of my house. Yes...this is the service we are forced to pay extra for since 2013-2014. |

I put a teflon spray lubricant on the seals of the truck and the trailer. Seems to help a lot. |

Did your city used to clear your sidewalks? I'm amazed... As far as I can remember, my city has never cleared sidewalks in front of private property. Unless the property owner refused to, then they would, and then they would also send the owner a hefty bill for the service. (It takes a three man union crew to clear 50 feet of sidewalk). We got down to 20 degrees last night, too. My other half is mad because her tulips have been frosted and snowed on a bunch of times since they came up. They didn't look so happy this morning. |

We always cleared our own sidewalk in DC but if we didn't, it didn't get cleared I think you would have trouble getting me to pay the bill for clearing city property. I cut the grass in the right of way in front of the house but I know I can get DOT to do it if I call. They do drive around the neighborhood now and then with a bush hog on a tractor and cut the first 10 feet or so of the vacant lots if nobody cuts it. |
