One of my clients finances new and rehabbed multiunit housing in mostly
lower income neighborhoods, so I am occasionally visiting such areas in
major U.S. cities, including Chicago, DC, LA, NY, Milwaukee, et cetera.

Don't forget, one of those times you weren't actually involved, you just wrote a "news" story about it. Like Brian Williams, its been embellished over the years.

What is it about reporters that causes them to incorporate the stories they cover into their own life story?

I'm surprised he didn't include Vietnam in '...all the times [he's] faced serious and
deadly violence involving gunplay...'. I know there was some shooting going on over
there.

Ban liars, tax cheats, juvenile name-callers, and narcissists...not guns!

John, up there in Cook country, it's like suicide bombers in Baghdad. Just another day and a way of life. I guess people are used to it.

Pussies.

You won't be walking a lot of those streets..

Yeah, I have, and worse.

You reckon all those news stories about the shootings and murders in Chicago are just
written by racists spreading bull****? You tell us over and over how you've walked
all those 'mean' streets in all those 'mean' cities, and seem to think they're just
peaceful as can be.

Sometimes the things you say just aren't very believable.

I think most large cities have serious crime problems, but of all the
times I've faced serious and deadly violence involving gunplay, the
perps were not of the race and ethnicity you seem to enjoy pointing out.

Gosh, you've only mentioned one time, that I can recall. 'All the times'? Wow.

--

Three times. First in the 1960s down in the deep south, second in el
salvador, third near Houma, LA.

Last time he mentioned La shooting it was on Grand Isle. Lovely
place, that. I guess that's somewhat close to Houma.

Good memory.

I doubt you'd last a "New York Minute" in Chicago. I love taking
business/pleasure trips to that city...great hotels, shopping,
museums, restaurants, easy ride in from the airport, great meeting
facilities.

The ride from the airport to the city is one on the worst in any of the
big cities I've visited. Midway is better to the south side or
McCormick Place, but not by much. This is real experience on real
business trips.

There's good places, and there's not. I really don't want to go back
there, even to a lot of the good places.

One of my clients finances new and rehabbed multiunit housing in
mostly lower income neighborhoods, so I am occasionally visiting such
areas in major U.S. cities, including Chicago, DC, LA, NY, Milwaukee,
et cetera.

Sure.

I loved visiting my aunt in Chicago. Of course, like you, I stayed out of the 'combat
zones'. Wonder if the ghetto is run by Democrats?

Had many things to see and do, I spent most of my spare time in

In the 60s I spent a lot of time in Chicago. I lived on the west side
off Central at the Lake Street El in an apartment. It was a
neighborhood on the edge. Up toward the el, it was OK, 3 or 4 blocks
south was pretty rough.

Amen to that. Got the t-shirt. The suburbs aren't bad for a big city, but going downtown requires sticking to the well-known areas or having a local along with you. And O'Hare sux!
