I'm thinking of getting a set of white "fake ivory" grips for my S&W
686. They are made of Corian, and look pretty much like ivory in the
on-line photos. Anyone seen these in person and willing to comment on
their appearance?

I have done a lot of playing with Corian. When my wife was building,
Miscellaneous pieces were easy to get from the cabinet guys. It is
tough stuff but I would not confuse it with ivory. It will always just
be white plastic.
It does make a pretty good top for a work bench if you are rebuilding
lower units, carburetors or other things that are not "dirt friendly"
because you can get it very clean before you start and it is easy to
see small parts.
It seems to be immune to most solvents.

I have done a lot of playing with Corian. When my wife was building,
Miscellaneous pieces were easy to get from the cabinet guys. It is

Never been a fan of "pretty-ing" up a gun. If something gets changed it's for functions sake, not because I want to impress the guy next to me at the range. And faux plastic "ivory" grips on a revolver aren't going to impress anyone. Might provide some comic relief, though.

Yup. Only gun I ever wanted for looks as a very old double barrel,
Damascus Twist, shotgun a lady I know via a buddy found when she bought a
house. Would have liked that one for a mount over the family room bar.
