A reason to carry?
Today while walking the dogs across the end of a school yard, I spot a large dog
apparently loose in the playground on the other side of the soccer fields - about 100 yards away. The dog spots me with my two dogs and starts out across the fields at us. The owner, a guy with the loose leash in his hand, comes out from behind the playground equipment and begins yelling at and chasing the dog. The dog, a pit bull I can see as it got closer, continued towards us. I was standing at the corner of a fence and stair rails, so I put the dogs behind the fence and waited. A couple seconds later, the pit bull is a few yards away and I crouch down and yell, "NO!" jumping at the dog as I did so. This stopped the pit bull, momentarily. It turned towards its owner, now about 50 yards away, and then turned back towards us. Again I yelled. It stopped, but as the owner got close, the dog took off coming around the fence. Again, yelling and jumping caused it to shy away, and finally the owner got between my dogs and his dog, getting his dog to stop. I'm sure I was very lucky the f'ing dog wasn't a bit more aggressive and come after me. Maybe it was the bulk of a red winter coat and hood. The owner, although stupid as ****, was apologetic, and I walked off. I should have called Animal Control, but forgot I had my cell phone. Coming home I seriously considered carrying when I walked the dogs. This is the third time a large dog has either attacked or threatened my dogs while I was walking them. Two times were German Shepherds, this time a Pit Bull. I think from now on I'll have a P938 in my pocket. This is getting ridiculous. -- Ban idiots, not guns! |

Usually they call the calm ones "blue nose". The guys next door have one. My biggest fear of that dog is that he is too timid. That is the type of dog that gets "nippy". I am working with him trying to socialize him, because the owner won't. I am a dog guy tho. I like dogs and I get along with them. We can talk. ;-) |

So who are you going to shot, the dog or the dog's owner? A seagull, maybe, or starling. Whatever's flying overhead at the time. But mace is a better idea. === Shots in the air can get you locked up also. True. and killing worms is probably a felony. |
A reason to carry?

In Florida aggravated assault with a firearm will get you minimum of 10, if you fire the gun it is 20 and if you hit someone it is 25 to life. There is not much wiggle room on the sentence. |

Shooting a dog might get you in as much trouble as shooting a white guy. ;-) More. |
