Interesting question in the Snooze Press

Local paper Ft Myers News-Press

They bring up the issue of congressional districts and by extension
the electoral college. Should they be apportioned based on total
population or just eligible voters?
Doesn't doing it by total population give added power to those voters?
If you are talking about minor family members, people are representing
their kids but what if it is an area with a lot of non voting aliens,
legal or illegal and a lower percentage of voting citizens. Aren't
their votes going to carry more power and may not actually reflect the
desires of the non-voting population although they get the value of
their numbers?

I don't really have an opinion because I think it all comes out in the
wash but I assume there are opinions on it.

This is in regards to the Texas lawsuit about non citizens getting counted
for districting.

It's 2015. The electoral college should be abolished and replaced with
a popular vote. The penny should also be removed from circulation.
Unrelated, I know.

The EC was designed to give low population states a chance to count in
the presidential election. The reality is there are really only a few
states that count anyway. If you are not in a "purple" state, you
might as well stay home or leave the presidential box blank.

There's the problem. With electronic voting that needs to go away. I
vote in advance, from home. It's not an "absentee" ballot anymore and
for the $2 postage it's well worth the time at the polls.
