Went down for an Open Range rally to the Anchor Down RV Resort in Dandridge, TN. If
you're thinking of a trip to Gatlinburg or the Great Smokies, this is a super place
to stay. Very impressive campground.

Our site (and it was the cheapest. The next jump up got a beautiful fireplace. None
available when we booked.):

Even the dog enjoyed the view:

Yeah, they sold a bucket of wood for $5, so we had a fire most every night. We would
'round robin' the fire with friends.

When we pulled in, there was a guy in the next site over with a 'lite' (cheap?),
small towed trailer. He came over to say hello and within a minute told me about his
42' 'motor yacht' on the Tennessee River and his mountain home up in the Great
Smokies.

Oh well, at least he didn't brag about a non-existent gun collection and the owls in
his back yard.

A mountain home up in the Great Smokies would be a great place to

That would be mine, too. RV'ing just has no appeal to me...driving long
distances on the interstates or worse roads, towing a motel room, and
setting up where you are depending upon nothing more than a boat toilet,
A/C that depends upon the vagaries of a campsite, loud and sometimes
drunk near neighbors, little kids running amok, et cetera.

That Broadmoor place was a bit upscale for us too but we got a great
deal because there is a professional courtesy among country club
types. My wife's F&B manager knows the Broadmoor guy.
We paid for the cheapest room in the house and got the nicest suite.
We still get suite when we get a hotel most of the time but we really
like renting houses.

Better deals in Colorado. I still have cousins there, so bum a room. May
go pick up a new truck camper there next week in Denver. Wife has a 55th

We rented a condo this past summer at Hilton Head...it was better than
sleeping on a boat!

Recently zipped up to Baltimore for a game and stayed the night at the
Baltimore Hilton, which literally is across the street from the ball
park. Pretty decent hotel and, of course, Baltimore is chock full of
very good restaurants. $25 to park overnight - crikey! :)

There's nothing better than sleeping on a boat. The Navigator had the
most comfortable bed I've ever slept on and the gentle (and sometimes
not so gentle) rocking was a natural sleeping pill.

My friend has a 30' Luhrs. The couch is famous. Sleep coming back from
tuna trips or long days fishing. While a roast cooks in the oven.
