I'd like to run both tied together but no girl guage and can't see through the tanks, so no reserve. However I also have a standard 6 gal I can tuck in as a spare for 'reserve' I guess. 24 gallons is a lot of gas. Do you think you would ever come close to burning that much in a day? I have a hard time burning 20 gallons in the 500ci Caddy on the skinny water boat in a day and it loves gas! I have only had to grab the spare can once and it's a 30 gallon tank. Heh. The Egg Harbor I had burned about 35 gallons per *hour* of diesel fuel at cruise speed. The Navigator was a fuel miser, only burning 28 gallons per hour at cruise. My nasty old beater looks better to me every time I read a thread like this ;-) |

On my 2 hr cruises I run the revs up between 4k and 5k whenever the water is smooth enough to do so. Couldn't burn enough gas so I'll remove as much as I can before half filling with fresh new gas for 7 month sleep. |

I paid $2.07 when I filled my cans but it is up to $2.14 now. Glad I jumped on it when I did. |

We have two, 300 gal tanks and one 275 gal tank. My wife called to get oil a week ago and the guy she orders from recommended holding off from completely filling the tanks for a bit. He said the prices are going to come down even more. She left it with him to determine when he thinks the price has bottomed, then come and top off the tanks. |

I just filled a 500 gal tank for 90c per gal That's pretty cheap. |

Big news around here was the surprise announcement (2 days ago) that the only operating nuke power plant in Massachusetts is to be shut down by 2019. In reality, it will more likely be shut down in 2017, before the next refueling requirement. It was issued a new, 20 year operating license in 2014, so it's shut down came as a surprise to employees and surrounding town's officials. Cheap natural gas was cited as one of the many reasons for it's closure although Massachusetts has to import all of it's natural gas via pipelines from Canada. Known as the "Pilgram" Power plant, it has been in operation since 1972. My neighbor is an engineer at the plant and has been there since the early 1980's. I was talking to him yesterday about the closing and learned the reasons are far more complex than just cheap natural gas. |

We just move for maybe a 1/2 hour at a time looking for hidden fishing honey holes boats with submerged propellers can't reach. If I were to stay in an open canal I'm sure I'd be burning at least 30 GPH. It's a fun boat but hardly fuel efficient. |

It's time to sell the rotting boat and rent just boats if you use it that infrequently. |
