Princess Stove help

In my 28' Chris Craft Sportfisher (Circa 1972) I have this pressurized
alcohol stove. I have to pump it and do so frequently but it never
seems to give me more pressure. Even though I find that there is
plenty of pressure in the 'tank' it won't give me more flame when I
turn the stove up.

I do not have an owners manual on this thing. I see there is an option
on the dial for 'cleaning' what is this about? I have never used any
type of pressurized stove before. I'm considering just getting another
stove and pitching this one. Parts appear to be impossible to find.

Any links or suggestions?

I once had a Kenyon alcohol stove. Nothing but problems and one serious
fire.. Ya can't see the flames.

If I remember correctly, the 'cleaning' is a function where the needle valve
is use to purge any gummy buildup in the needle valve passage. I don't
remember how it worked.

My recommendation is to ditch the Princess and get a non pressurized
stove.. If you want alcohol stove, use one of those sterno types with the
refillable canisters.

Post this question in rec.backcountry. I saw a LONG thread there about
alcohol stoves. Even though they're talking about backpacking equipment, you
might find someone who's a wizard with stove repair/maintenance. Apparently,
they're still popular in Europe.
