A belligerent, loud-mouthed racist...

No, not John Herring this time...

Nobel Laureate Economist Paul Krugman on The Donald:

Krugman has an idea why Trump is leading, and like most of his
observations, this one is spot-on, too.

While speaking on Bloomberg TV, Krugman elucidated why Trump has
captured the Republican zeitgeist with such ferocity:

So he’s a belligerent, loudmouth racist with not an ounce of
compassion for less fortunate people. In other words, he’s exactly the
kind of person the Republican base consists of and identifies with. It’s
clear that the very things that Upper West Side New Yorkers find
detestable about him are exactly what endear him to the Republican base,
which is basically people who see in him everything — even the big red
face and the yelling — that makes him their kind of guy.

Krugman then predicted the outcome of 2016, using 2012 as a road map:

We saw the same thing in 2012 — one after another, basically
ludicrous candidates, but loudmouthed, angry ludicrous candidates, shot
to the top of the polls. And in the end, they nominated Mitt Romney, who
on substance was not that different [from] the others. And probably, the
same thing will happen this time around, with Jeb Bush playing that role.

I guess the question is how many democrats like trump. I bet 17% is a
low guess.

Who cares? He ain't running for the Dem nomination. I hope the Dems in
open primary states vote for him, though. Obviously, he is the choice of
..wrecked.boats righties. :)

Sounds right. Pulled to the extreme by loudmouthed idiots, then forced
to settle for the electable. But not until they're shot themselves in
the feet 50 times by alienating women, immigrants, LGBT, non-white,
etc.

2012 redux.

I am just amused at how giddy you are about someone with 17% in an
unscientific poll.

The only reason I ask about the democrats is that the disdain for
Latinos crosses all political and demographic lines. People may say
"Lupe the maid is like a member of the family" but she doesn't get to
sit at the table on Thanksgiving.

You don't get it. As bad as the image of the GOP is, Trump is making it
worse by his statements and support.
