Disclaimer: In no way is the following comment an endorsement or

What did he say that is "racist" in nature? He erroneously claimed that
the Mexican government exports criminals, rapists and drug dealers to
the USA. He didn't say anything derogatory about Mexicans in general.

He's wrong of course, but I don't see he statement as "racist".
He's against illegals, but so is the majority of the US population.

Harry thinks everyone is a racist.
It is just short hand for "I disagree with them".
I totally disagree with the assertion but I think Trump is just trying
to appeal to the hard hat gang and that crosses racial lines.
I think the anti-immigrant demographic is the "working class" who feel
their job may be in danger.
The ironic thing is, down here, the Latinos are actually doing jobs
Americans will not do. When it is 95 in the shade, you need someone
who is used to working in the heat. Those northern white boys are not
going to be able to deal with it.
A guy who was raised in central Mexico never knew anything else.

The Mexicans I've hired and seen working seem to have a tremendous work ethic. I've
no problem with legal Mexican immigrants. Just their legality shows they're willing
to put forth a lot of effort to get something accomplished.

The illegals? Well, they've already broken the law once.

The liberals would much rather leave the distinction out of their comments. Trump
referred to *illegals*, but the liberal media continues to apply his comments to
*all* Mexicans. This whole episode is showing how the liberal media can inflame a
situation as it desires.

How is the Mexican government assisting in illegals coming across the
boarder? Most are simply looking for work. The Mexican government is
not actively "exporting" anyone. You can make an argument that they are
not doing enough to prevent illegals from crossing over and that is
exactly what Trump was complaining about.

The reality is there are a lot of US dollars flowing into Mexico from
the immigrants, legal and illegal. In a lot of cases dad comes here,
works and sends money back to his family in Mexico (or wherever). Even
with the low wage they make here, they can send enough home to support
their family there.
A lot of the guys (legal and illegal) went home after the crash
because their savings would go a lot farther there than if they stayed
here.
I bet they are coming back now because the recession is over here in
the building business. Contractors have help wanted signs on there
trucks and anyone who is willing to show up every day has a job.

They are returning. The number of cars parked on some of the local driveways and
lawns demonstrates that.

Racist Donald Trump Jumps Out To Wide Lead As Republican 2016 Frontrunner

16% is not really a lead, it just says 16% agree with him. Some of
them are undoubtedly democrats, probably loyal union members who hate
Mexicans too.

He is as electable as Bernie Sanders and I am sure Sanders is getting
much higher numbers

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle. You're good at it. The fact remains that in the
poll in question, Trump the Racist is leading, which makes sense,
considering the sort of trash that comprises the GOP base these days.

Bernie Sanders is not a pig. Trump is a pig.

Trump is a well known pig, with plenty of TVQ
When you put as many names in a poll as they have now, name
recognition may mean as much as any position they take and you have to
admit, Trump has plenty of that.
I bet Caitlin Jenner would beat Martin O'Malley in a poll right now
among democrats.

Certainly name recognition is a factor, but there are a number of GOPers
seeking the nomination who have that, and several have been after the
nomination for some time. I think Trump really, truly appeals to a large
percentage of the Republican base who are racists, hater of ethnic
minorities, and admirers of loudmouth politicians who appeal to their
basest instincts. And of course, Trump is really rich, and that also
appeals to Republicans.

I wish Trump well in his quest. I hope he is the GOP nominee...he stands
for the party's worst beliefs and instincts.

I think you are underestimating the number of democrats who respond to
that anti-immigration message

Which has nothing to do with my point that Trump stands for the worst in
beliefs. If he is the nominee, and I agree that is a long shot, he will
lose. And, of course, he can't control his mouth. A few years ago, he
"jokingly" said the following:

NEW YORK — Donald Trump joked that he would date his 24-year-old
daughter, Ivanka — if he weren’t her father.

Trump and Ivanka, a vice president of real estate development at the
Trump Organization, appeared Monday on ABC’s “The View” to promote her
five-episode stint as a boardroom adviser on “The Apprentice.”

When asked how he would react if Ivanka, a former teen model, posed for
Playboy, Trump replied, “It would be really disappointing — not really —
but it would depend on what’s inside the magazine.”

He added: “I don’t think Ivanka would do that, although she does have a
very nice figure. I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d
be dating her.”
