What is wrong with Ferguson Police Department?
 

In this country, Blacks are incarcerated at almost six times the rate of Whites. That
could be because our justice system is extremely racist, or because Blacks commit
crimes at a greater rate, or some combination of both.

White Americans make up about 72% of the population, and African Americans make up
about 12% of the population. In other words the population of White Americans is
about six times that of African Americans.

In Ferguson, the population is 67% Black leaving 33% mix of White and other. Given
the statistics across the country, is it reasonable to expect that crimes will be
committed in the ratio of 67 by Black to 33 by other?

I think not. Of course, pointing out the obvious makes me an ingrained racist.

You can say the justice system is corrupt and you can say the cops are
racist but if the victims are saying the criminal was black, you
pretty much have to believe them.

I do think the racism works both ways. The citizens don't have much
respect for the cops either.
This is far deeper than a few jokes and some J walking.
We need a fundamental change and it is not just in places like
Ferguson. I am sure you don't have lo look very hard right around DC
to find the same kind of stories.
I knew lots of cops there and none of this surprises me ... on either
side.
The deputies in South Lee County are far less racist than the ones I
knew up north.

I'm wondering also why, if Ferguson is so 'anti-Black', the population demographics
have shifted so much.

If the treatment of Blacks is as egregious as Holder would have us believe, why such
a shift in demographics.
