And the snow continues .....
Heard this morning that as of January 23rd, the official snowfall in Boston and surrounding areas had only been 5.5 inches. Since then over 58 inches have fallen. Getting stupid. This amount of snow is great for unpopulated ski locations but towns and cities have run out of places to put the crap. Going to have another cup of coffee and then go hit the driveway again for about the 10th time in the past 2-3 weeks. Same problem. No place to push it. I am really regretting that I got rid of the big snowblower attachment I had for the tractor at one time but it was a rip roaring pain in the ass to take off the front end loader in order to put the snow blower on. |

Just tried doing the driveway. Whatever the plow pushes to the side just rolls back into the driveway as I pass by. If I could do about 80 mph down the driveway it might work but it's going to be tractor time again later. Ridiculous. Weymouth, a town about 15 miles north of us towards Boston has had 20 inches of additional snow since 8 pm last night. |

Looks like you are getting it this year. Here in Michigan we set a new all time record for snowfall last year. We just did last weekend have a 17 incher so our February total is closing in on 20" for the month. |

That would be perfect. First, have to sell this place. I don't want a situation like we had before where we had a place (actually two places) in Florida while still having this house. It will sell eventually. We are going to take it off the market temporarily and then put it back on at a lower price sometime in April-May. It makes no sense to be advertising it right now and having tire kickers wanting to have showings every weekend. We do have a couple of potential buyers who are somewhat serious and are researching financing options and checking codes for additional horses. Good luck to them. It's a buyer's market for properties in this price range. |

Yeah, this is crazy and not typical for this area. We are in a winter jet stream setup that causes the clippers to generate lows off shore that blow up and then this area. New record set today and it's still snowing. Well over 60 inches of snow in the past 17 days. That's unheard of, even for this area. Bad news is the trend is going to continue. Another storm is now forecast for Thursday/Friday and then another on Sunday/Monday. I've never seen so much snow in such a short period of time. |

It was a big machine about the size of an 18 wheeler. A front end loader was dumping snow into it and the internal machinery melted the snow...you could see water flowing out of a good sized pipe into another area...I imagine it was a holding tank to be dumped down the storm sewers. My problem is living in a city where the downtown streets were laid out in colonial times...that is..narrow and meant for horse buggies. It's getting to be hard to navigate where the snow banks reduce the streets to about two thirds of their width and parking can be on both sides. I don't drive much these days to avoid getting my side mirrors clipped. In fact, with someone parked directly across from my driveway, it can be a squeeze just getting out on the street. In the past, if I complained and pulled out the 'safety card', the city would put up no parking signs on one side of our street. Guess it's time to start calling before the storm expected later this week hits. |

I HAVE PLOW TRUCKS AVAILABLE ALONG WITH THE BACK HOE AND MEN TO SHOVEL, IF YOU ARE IN NEED PLEASE CALL 774 930 2986 VERY FRIENDLY SERVICE, CUSTOMER SATISFACTION GUARANTEED, YOU ONLY HAVE TO PAY WHAT YOU WANT TO PAY. I UNDERSTAND IT'S GETTING EXPENSIVE, HOWEVER I CAN COME BY WITH THE BACK HOE AND OPEN YOUR DRIVEWAY RIGHT UP FOR REALLY CHEAP, DON'T BE SHY. I'M DOING THIS TO HELP MAKE YOUR DRIVEWAYS SAFER AND YOUR LIFE EASIER I know, the guy always post all caps but he's a good guy. Are you near enough to Dighton Mass, if so I can shoot you his number... I know he sounds corney but he's the real deal. Out last week doing some folks for free, just because they needed it. Appreciate it but so far we are holding our own. I plowed a couple of times today but finally gave up because there's no longer anywhere for the snow to go. I drove around on the driveway packing down what snow remained and at least we can get out and down to the road. I am always concerned about emergency vehicles being able to get up from the road. Tomorrow I'll spend most of the day moving some piles back about 6 feet with the tractor to make room for more snow. Incredible amount of snow in a short period of time. Originally the weather people thought the "front" would set up more north and the North Shore would get the brunt of the snowfall, but instead the front set up 50 miles to the south which put the South Shore from about Plymouth northward in the heavy bands of snow. When it's all over early Tuesday morning we will have right around 24 inches of new snow on top of the 28 inches we received three days ago. Yeah, me and Jess had a **** of a time getting to work today cause they really don't plow our roads in the neighborhood till later. Got sent home today early though cause of the storm.... I have Wrangler AT's so I usually get around pretty good if I can get off my street :) The town has done a pretty good job keeping up with the roads. My problem is keeping our driveway clear so we can even get to the road. The house sits about 600 feet from the road and the driveway circles around the barn with a pretty steep grade up to the house. Total length to plow is just over 1,000 ft. Plus, I do my two closest neighbors driveways. Keeps me busy. Here's what one side of the driveway looked like this morning. I am in the truck plowing. It's worse now. About another 10 inches has fallen since then. http://i802.photobucket.com/albums/yy303/Eisboch/DSC_0488.jpg Saw what you need down at the Halifax Shopping Center on Sunday. I can't imagine why that dummy even had granulated weed killer in his possession.
