Alabama Lawmaker Will Expose Marital Affairs Of ‘Family Values’
Republicans If They Keep Attacking Gays

A gay Alabama state representative is warning her Republican colleagues
to stop attacking the LGBT community if they don’t want her to reveal
their dirty little secrets.

Patricia Todd made the threat on Facebook after she could no longer
tolerate the anti-gay hatred coming out of the mouths of her fellow
lawmakers in the statehouse. As leverage, Todd wrote that she intends to
name which “family values� Republicans have or are committing adultery
against their spouses in their heterosexual marriages.

“I will not stand by and allow legislators to talk about ‘family values’
when they have affairs, and I know of many who are and have,� she
declared. “I will call our elected officials who want to hide in the
closet out.�

Todd decided she had had enough of the anti-gay rhetoric from her GOP
colleagues in the wake of a federal judge striking down Alabama’s
same-sex marriage ban. She added to her words during an interview with
the Huffington Post, in which she further blasted so-called “family
values� Republicans for their hypocrisy.

“If certain people come out and start espousing this rhetoric about
family values, then I will say, ‘Let’s talk about family values, because
here’s what I heard.’ I don’t have direct knowledge, because obviously
I’m not the other person involved in the affair. But one thing you would
never hear about me is that I ever cheated on a partner or had an affair.�

"Family values" is just a meaningless phrase right-wing politicians use
to fire up that small percentage of their base that thinks the GOP
"stands for" that sort of thing. Obviously, it does not, if you take
into account the re-election victories of significant Republican pols
who were in serious violation of whatever the base thinks "family
values" means.

I am not saying Democratic politicians are paragons of virtue. They
aren't. But they usually don't preach "holier than thou" family values
bull**** to their base.

No, I hadn't read the article. So she's going to make public accusations based on hearsay. Sounds
quite liberal to me. Wonder how many lawsuits she'll face before she wakes up.

Actually, it is quite a bit different. Understanding global warming and
what goes with it requires some intellectual ability, regardless of what
Gore is or is not doing. Politicians preach "family values" to the
relatively simple minded who go for the idea of hating gays, blacks,
choice, women who want equal pay, women who work, et cetera.

Unfortunately, you don't seem to have a clue. Granted while there are a few aberations that have espoused some of the negativity that you mention, none of the things you mention truly have anything to do with "family values", and certainly not the "hatred" you're attaching to it. And you repeating it over and over doesn't make it true. The hatred seems to be all yours.

Harry has a big problem with "family values" because he associates it
with the values of typical middle class americans, i.e., people who
work hard at their jobs, care about their children, try to bring them
up in a stable two parent relationship, pay their taxes, pay off their
debts, etc. In other words, everything that he is not.
