if plowing was necessary. It was. I didn't want to let the snow get
too high because it gets difficult to see where things are.

Just finished doing our driveway and the driveways of two neighbors.
Visibility is next to nothing. Heavy, blowing snow. A little sit
depressing considering the Weather Channel just said the peak of the
storm is just now approaching New York. Gonna be a long day
tomorrow. "

Just happened to be up for a head visit at 0545 AST this morning and
the snow had just started.
Could be a long day.
I haven't bought winter tires in over 30 years but I actually called
the local Toyota dealer yesterday.
Parts dept said they don't have 17" steel rims for my Highlander so
I bailed
Saved myself about $ 1500.00. ;-)
Who buys tires from a dealer?

Those adverse to going on a Wal Mart shopping spree?

Although, I'll have to admit that Costco saved me about $80 total on
the four Michellins I had
installed. Damn tires are getting expensive. What happened to the good
ol' days when one could go to
the local Standard station and get used tires for $10?

I remember my Dad buying recapped tires.

We got a guy here who drives around in a truck with a setup. He will
come and put a set of used tires on your car at work, home, track,
whereever, for about 180-200 bucks passenger tires used, balanced,
mounted and offers free rotations thereafter on those tires if you come
to the home base... He usually doesn't get AT's though so I get mine at
tiremonkey or similar and let him mount them for 20 bucks a shot...

$180-$200 *each* for used tires? If so, that seems high.
My wife just had four new Michelin's put on her Mountaineer.
They charged her $925 for the set, balanced and installed.
That included the charge to dispose of the old tires.
