Scout expanded their manufacturing facility in Summerville, SC to start building this boat and a couple of 30 something footers as well. Wow, what a boat!

I'd think though that if you can afford the boat then you can afford the fuel. At least for the moment.

Greg I can see that. There was a recent story of a guy that had some big blue water battle wagon moored somewhere and forgot he even had it for about two years. His financial 'group' kept paying the fees...

Richard I'm surprised he didn't have you arrested for taking 'seized property' I was aware of the fact that everything within his fenced in area had been seized until the bankruptcy proceedings had been completed but that could have taken 6 months to a year. I was so ****ed off I didn't care. I got the boat and never heard anything about it. |

Three would make it really fast. Like Tim says, if money is an issue, you would not be buying this. Well, i think the decision regarding the fuel burn should involved more than "can I afford the gasoline." Most of the people who buy boats like this, do not have the time to actually use them much so I don't see the issue. I bet they burned far more fuel in their Gulf Stream, just getting to the boat. === Absolutely right. If you want to start limiting conspicuous consumption of fossil fuels, start with the private jets. Boats are almost efficient by comparison. I wonder how much energy we could save by shutting down the internet in Maryland? |

They are beginning to take the place of the big twin diesel Sport-Fisher. A run out to the gulf stream can be 30-50 miles here in SC, so folks want something that will get them there and back in a hurry. |

Wow, what a boat! http://www.scoutboats.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/420LXF-flyer-FINAL-update.pdf I had a small Scout Center Console ... 19.5' if I remember correctly. Very nice boat, well built, no wood anywhere, high end hardware. Fit and finish was excellent. I had it stored at a rack storage facility in Florida and some rodents got in it and chewed a bunch of wiring up. Then the storage place went belly-up and everything in it was frozen by their bank until the bankruptcy proceedings were completed. We had sold the houses in Florida and I wanted to tow it back to MA. Took some doing but I sneaked into the place, hooked the trailer up to my truck and hauled it out of there with the owner of the place jumping up and down and hollering at me. You are lucky he wasn't standing his ground, or Mrs. Luddite could have been an unmerry widow. :( Richard had more sense than to attack the owner! |

Personally I'd want diesels in a boat that size but the outboards do have some utility other that the "wow" factor. I was talking to someone recently who is in the marine insurance business. He said that it is becoming increasingly more difficult and expensive to insure triple and quad outboard boats because they are stolen so often. |
