After careful observation I have concluded that trying to heat up cold
boiled eggs in a microwave oven is not a good idea. My wife agrees.

Any suggestions?

Are you trying to do this without peeling the egg? I'd cut the egg up
a bit and just use the defrost cycle for about 15 seconds. You just
need it warm, not hot.

The eggs were peeled and uncut. I was trying for something a bit
beyond warm when the **** hit the fan.

How about dipping them in hot or at least warm water?

I think I did similar with a hotdog. Damn thing exploded into tiny
pieces at one end... made one hell of a mess.

That would probably work but it's hard to beat a microwave for speed.
I think John's suggestion of cutting the eggs first has some merit,
don't know why I didn't think of that before the massive explosion and
ensuing clean up operation.

Could'a should'a.

Hotel we stay at in Santa Monica says to not microwave the hard boiled
peeled eggs.
