What the 'ell.....
Tim's post shows up right after Richards....even in my Playbook....
That is... Number 1 and then number 2 posts.
Doesn't take a genius to figure out what Tim is talking about.

What the hell does 'ell mean?

The report I heard was that the drawbridge malfunctioned and dropped as
the boat was transiting under the bridge.

That makes sense. There doesn't appear to be any shear damage. The boat
was probably in dead slow ahead mode.

It's also for sale. Original asking price was $21 million. You could
probably pick it up at a steep discount now.

Why would I want to buy a broken drawbridge?

You could always do what any self respecting Floridian would do. You
could sit under the closed drawbridge and give the finger to all the
snowbirds. :-)

If you haven't figured it out by now, we Canadians are probably a bit more polite than your average 'merican.
We don't like to swear unless necessary.

Sometimes posts disappear right after they are read if the news reader
is set to do so. When you respond to a post, that post might have
already disappeared and we are left wondering what the "ell" you are
talking about. Capiche?

Well then, go to ell. Said in the polite Canadian manner.

This was all over the news here. The yacht was being towed. They are
still arguing about whether the bridge dropped or just failed to open.
It was under tow.
The damage looked pretty superficial to me when they showed it after
the boat was clear. It took out a chunk of that overhang but they
missed all of those electronics on top. It may just be fiberglass
damage.

===

Somehow I missed that, probably because I don't watch much television.
When and where did it occur?

You'd be amazed how fast damages add up when you're talking about
professional boat yard repairs made to "like new" quality. We had a
sailboat hit us last summer after his anchor dragged on a windy day,
putting some relatively minor scratches on our stbd side. It looks
like it's going to settle for something in the mid 4 figure range.
