In a statement released Sunday evening, the St. Louis Police Officers

Prior to player introductions before Sunday’s game, five players —

What is tasteless, offensive and inflammatory is the number of
incidents
in which police beat up, shoot, and kill unarmed civilians.

Well, I think you should probably figure that a high percentage of
those unarmed citizens are guilty of breaking some law, then when the
police try to arrest them the fight. You can be sure the police kill in
self defense a very low percentage of those that fight, and then of
that
low percentage a tiny percentage might have been killed and it was
wrong. If you don't fight a policeman, your odds of being killed are
very, very, very, very tiny. That's a big clue.

The bigger problem, 13% of the population murder as many as the other
87%. That 13% is the black population, if you could fix that...

Mikek

Interesting that in other modern nations like England, Germany, Japan,
et cetera, the police there hardly ever kill anyone.

I wonder if the "population" has more respect for the authority of
the police in those countries.

Why do you suppose that is?

A culturally less violent and more compliant society.
If you ask your average German whether it was OK to attack an officer
and try to take his weapon he would simply be aghast. They would
expect to be killed.

Oh. So it has nothing to do with the easy availability of guns.

German police have guns, Toad.

Are you implying that Brown was killed because of the easy
availability of guns? To cops? Or to Brown? You're making little sense
here, Toad.

You'll have to ask those who do the telling, but often t's easier to
blame others for our woes than take the responsibility ourselves.

When you ask, "What *is* the problem?" you'll have to be a little more
specific. The problem with what? A liberal would say the problems
faced by blacks in the ghetto is the oppression by white Republicans.
A white Republican, like me, might say the problem is a lack of
education and satisfaction with the 'status quo'.

In any case, the video below provides some good information. Pay

It's the behavior of the folks behind the gun that's the problem,
Toad. Look at Switzerland, they have a lot of guns, but the behavior
of the gun owners is much better. Look at the guys here on rec.boats.
Lots of them own guns, some, like yourself, own a whole arsenal of
guns. How many folks have you shot with them? None? Well, why the hell
not? Lots of guns were available to you, but you didn't go out and
shoot anyone.

In fact, I don't think anyone here has shot anyone. Wonder why not?

He and jps just can't seem to understand that it's not the gun's fault
when someone gets shot. They both need to look at the Ferguson case.
Not one person has blamed Brown's death on the gun. They've all blamed
the cop - even jps, Toad, and .... him (although only be inference).

Ooops, I take some of that back. I think Toad did comment that Brown's
death was possibly related to the availability of guns. That made no
sense, but he did say that (or words to that effect = in case I'm
being closely monitored).
