About 11,000 people are murdered with guns in this country and over 40,000 die in cars. Almost 700,000 die from heart disease. Bacon kills 50 times as many people as bullets. That reading comprehension thing really seems to escape you. I was responding to this assertion by Kevin "The number one killer of people is other people with guns." Suicide, the biggest cause of gun death, is not being "killed by other people with guns". The gun part of suicide is incidental anyway. Countries without any significant gun ownership, like Japan, manage to have a higher suicide rate than the US. Robin Williams didn't have a gun and it did not slow down his suicide. To address your off topic response, a lot of those car deaths may be suicide too. It is seldom if ever investigated that way. Gee, I wonder what percentage of car deaths are the result of successful suicide attempts. Must be "a lot." -- “There’s more idleness and abuse of government favors among the economically privileged than among the ranks of the disadvantaged.” - Norman Mailer |

Quite a few of those car deaths are murder. Someone committing suicide and takes out others. Not that uncommon. |

Study talked about on the radio said number one was smoking. I think the included every illness, that could possibly be connected to smoking, and included those deaths. Hard to measure. |

A few years ago a local was failing from a cancer. Got on his motorcycle. Swerved off the highway and right into an electric pole ata high speed (police estimated 80+) nice straight highway and clear day. No skid marks or evidence of trying to pull out of it.
