Where did they go?

Maryland?

FlaJim wouldn't like Maryland.

You got that right. Nothing of interest there.

Nice try, but the reality, from your posts here, is that you are just
another right-wing racist.

Your ignorance is showing.

You frequently put up posts that attempt to show minorities in a bad
light. You're a racist.

You don't understand how important banking is to the economy.
Most people are very unwise in there personal spending.
I think it would be wise to educate the public about the importance
of living on less then you earn. A high percentage of the population
is 100% reliant on other peoples money (banks) to buy something as
common as a car. It has never made sense to me that a family can't
afford to pay cash for a car, but they can afford to pay for a car plus
interest. Never mind 0% interest deals, most people shouldn't be buying
new cars anyway.
My latest education came when I wanted to buy some peel-N-seal tape.
I called two of the local aluminum building supply companies, they were
both out of business. I drove over to where there was a third aluminum
building supply company, when I arrived, the sign had been changed to
a photography studio. I went in anyway and ask, the lady said, let me
get him, he's in the back. He came out and I mentioned what I had run
across with his competitors. I got a 45 minute story about his industry.
The business failures all came down to the banking industry and tight
criteria for lending money. He said, when it was at it's worst his
salesmen would sell 100 jobs, but only 15% of those would qualify for
the loan. It all spiraled down from there. He had to reduce salesmen,
this resulted in less sales, until it is just a few people now, and two
closed businesses.
But this comes back to people that can not afford a $10,000 expense,
but they can afford a $10,000 + interest expense. Makes no sense.

Oh, really? I can think of a handful of rec.boats posters living in
Florida who are "undesirables."

We were in Florida earlier this year and noticed that the grocery store
prices were still higher there than here. As we were in SE Florida, I
didn't notice as many fundie churches. The main roads were very
congested and not in great repair. An environmental engineer I know in
Florida says the state's fresh water shortages are serious and are not
discussed enough.

Florida does have great beaches for swimming and terrific salt and fresh
water fishing, though. Maybe the best in the country. It's always a
pleasure to visit SE Florida, especially in February and March, and
especially if you can fly in and out of Ft. Lauderdale and avoid the
Miami airport.

http://findnsave.washingtonpost.com/...nt-Food/10135/

I don't see any huge bargains there compared to Publix and the steak
they are bragging about is $2 a pound more than what Publix puts it on
sale for.

I said I noticed the prices were higher in Publix than in Giant.
Obviously there is much fluctuation in prices from week to week. When we
moved to Florida, though, I noticed that food prices were here, as were
car and homeowners insurance prices. Perhaps that was the impact of Andrew.

SE Florida is what they use for the example of what they don't want to
happen here when they build. I have no opinion about it but to say I
passed on a transfer there a year before this became available.,
There are 3 places in Florida I would never consider moving to. Miami/
Ft Lauderdale/WPB corridor, Orlando or Jacksonville and they seem to
be your favorites. No wonder you have such a low opinion of Florida.
You chose the worst **** holes then bitch about your choices.

I like the SE Florida area for lots of reasons. I used to go to Orlando
for the Disney/Sea World/ et cetera attractions, not for Orlando. We
spent time in Jacksonville because it was convenient at the time, with
really good direct air service to DC and reasonably convenient for my
wife when she was getting her Masters in Science. I never said I liked
the Jacksonville area, other than the good fishing, boating and
uncrowded beaches and the flora and fauna.

Hey, you don't need my permission to pimp for the Florida chamber of
commerce.

And you want credit for staying with a black family.

We stayed with a black family in Kenya because the woman of the family
is my wife's best friend and was a doctoral colleague of hers. I'm not
looking for "credit" for it; that's just an ignorant statement on your
part.
