Default Navy activity

Some years ago in San Diego, I asked about that, because there were
dozens of navy ships around, but very few guys in uniform. Bartender
told me the navy guys dressed in civilian clothes when off duty so as to
avoid fights with morons trying to prove their manhood by punching a
military guy.

Seems possible, but I don't know. Ask Flatulent Jim what he wore on navy
shore leave after he finished up his duties dispensing soap and towels
and rubdowns on his ship.
