If left wing assholes could fly you'd be an intergalactic wing
commander.

So he says... I would be more convinced if he was not using every "boat

newest boat, just started buying wood last night. It's a 16 foot Whaler
in plywood, loosely designed to mimic a classic 13 foot Boston Whaler
Hull. Amazingly the hull will cost a dollar a pound and it will weigh
just about 500 pounds (plus tax:)...

Unlike my Camper design this hull is not dependent on the weight of the
wood so I will build it of exterior plywood and doug fir. It will be a
self jigging boat, if I was at my shop I could knock it off in a week...
but we will see how I do with the neighbors and how much flack I get
from the town...

Cool, keep us posted. Are the sketch plans online anywhere?

Here, check this out.

It is not supposed to be a huge "development" in hulls except that it
is a somewhat complex hull that can be self jigged and built in about
30-40 man hours, for less than 500 bucks. When it's done it will weigh
less than 500 pounds and be 16 feet by 6 1/2.

I was really looking to create a planing hull that would take little
gas, and be as dry as a low sided boat can possibly be at speed. It is a
protected water boat as are most of my designs, meant for partying and
playing on the river or lake, fishing, sunning, and just hangin' out...

Interesting, it certainly looks "Whalerish" enough. Does your design
software give you lofting plans for all of the panels?

Yes it does, it has a "nesting" program attached that allows you to lay
out the panels and gives you the coordinates to cut them out and stitch
them together. It's called "Carlson Hulls" and it's a free program a
Plotter retailer put out for testing product, etc... and it's made it's
way around. It allows you to set pitch, heel and displacement then even
shows the water flow around the hull for you... Pretty cool for free.
Been using it for over a decade...
