I've never seen or shot a bad Kimber.

Local gun dealer said they are picky with ammo and the Marines had
"catastrophic" failures with them. 1911's but this is the first time
I've heard anything bad about Kimber. I looked into it and the Marines
did switch to Colt but I didn't see anything about failures. I didn't
spend a lot of time on it, either. I'll wait for the Beretta 21A Inox.
It's a little smaller and better suited for this particular application.

"catastrophic" failures may just mean a jam that took the gun out of
the fight. A highly fitted gun like this may be more picky about ammo
and a little dirt than the good old 1911 that will shoot green crusty
ammo, while the gun is caked with mud.


What could be more appropriate than Herring buying yet another firearm
he hasn't tried first, finding out it has "failure" characteristics, and
then getting rid of it...again.

Some years ago, gun discussion boards were ablaze with tales of Kimbers
having serious problems. Never interested me much, because I never liked
the 1911 style of pistol.

It would be funny if Herring got one, went out on neighborhood patrol,
encountered a kid with dark skin (the horror of it! :) ), forced a
confrontation, and then got the crap beat out of him with the box of
snack candy the kid was carrying.
