Ping: Harry IPS
Harry, a few posts back you commented that the Zumwalt had IPS drives.
If you are thinking IPS Pod type propulsion drives like those introduced by Volvo Penta and Zeuss, you have it confused. "IPS" on the Zumwalt stands for "Integrated Power System" and refers to the electrical systems required for all operations and systems, including propulsion. It has nothing to do with how the ship is actually driven. The Zumwalt has conventional propellers and rudders. |
