I'm thinking of getting one of these for the kids to play with. This is pretty small, but it's also
relatively inexpensive.

http://www.horizonhobby.com/products...ogy-BLH7480#t2

Wow, even with the camera that's not a bad price at all.

http://www.amazon.com/UDI-2-4GHz-RC-...cm_wl_huc_item

That is just what I'm looking for. But I'll get the U817A. Don't need the camera.

Looks cool and the price is right. How old are the kids? You'd
probably have fun working with them to fly it and put it back
together. I'd think that age wise, some degree of good judgement and
manual dexterity would be desirable. That's why I don't have one
yet. :-)

They range from 16 on down. I'm thinking of the 10-13 year olds. My 11 year old granddaughter flew
this one very well. Only crashed it a couple times, and nothing broke.

http://tinyurl.com/plmbc6r

But after seeing Harold's post, that's the one I'd go with. They're able to be flown outdoors, and
they use the 2.4GHz transmitter and receivers as opposed to the infra-red on the Syma. That thing is
a hell of a buy.

Not yet, but I've been looking at a few models that can handle my GoPro

Before you invest in a big one, invest in a litte one. That's my advice!

Wonder if they have floats for the copter. Would be pretty cool when out

You Tube 'quad copter floats' and you'll find a bunch of different ways to do it. I posted one the

Looks like it could hit a few walls and stay alive.

Thanks for the comeback.
I'd like one that can float so I can fly it around the boats and not
worry about it sinking.
Here ya go:

Or tie a couple empty plastic water bottles to the bottoms:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrArOJUlE0E

That last one seems to do better than the first. The last half of the
video gives the copter
perspective.
Very cool. There are so many of them it's hard to decide!

Before you invest in a big one, invest in a litte one. That's my advice!

I'm going to get this one for the grandkids to play with at Solomons Island this year.

It looks like it's got enough protection to save the props a little. One
of the sales people in the
LHS (that's 'Local Hobby Shop' for you rank amateurs) was flying one of
these. Fast, maneuverable,
very cool. And the price isn't bad, especially as a camera is included.
The reviews aren't bad
either!

Wonder if they have floats for the copter. Would be pretty cool when out
salmon fishing, to get air views of the fleet and the catching. Need
floats if you ran out of battery before returning.

You Tube 'quad copter floats' and you'll find a bunch of different ways
to do it. I posted one the
other day where a guy had used empty plastic water bottles.

This is pretty small, but it's also
relatively inexpensive.

Anyone have one of these?

I have one of these it takes a beating and comes back flying.

Wow, even with the camera that's not a bad price at all.

That is just what I'm looking for. But I'll get the U817A. Don't need the camera.

Harry is a bitter old man. He likes mind stretching hobbies like
shooting tree stumps.

Your 'bud' thinks he must say something derogatory whenever he gets a chance.

Hell, was referring to fishing and boating.
