My neighbor (who bought the old farmhouse from us) is a RC airplane and
helicopter nut. He just finished building a quadcopter equipped with a
Hero type camera. Here's a short video he posted of him flying it and
recording while his wife (the horse nut) was riding.

He has been trying to get me interested in this stuff without success so
far. Too damn cold outside.

Very cool, looks like the horse has some fancy moves, and it looks
like your snow is mostly melted.

You can see the shadow of the quadcopter at 1:30 into the video, lower
right hand corner of the screen.

I was waiting for the horse to get spooked. They are afraid of their
own shadow. He did another video where they sorta reacted to the giant
mosquito in the sky. Here's the link:

Surprising that the horse doesn't seem the least bit jittery with the damn thing flying around. They
do make a noise like a big-assed bumblebee, or a dozen. He was probably flying it from his enclosed,
heated porch.

Can't wait to fly mine.

Actually you can see him in the video standing in the field near the
horse corral.

If there's any interest in the type quadcopter, etc, there is a lot more information at that last
youtube link.

I'll copy and paste the particulars on the quadcopter that my neighbor
provided below. He's a computer geek and also the president of a local
RC flying chapter. He built the quadcopter from parts he bought here
there and everywhere. Here's the info for those interested:
(he was responding to a question from John H)

Hi John, this is actually a fairly inexpensive build. The frame is a Bat
Bone kit from FliteTest.com and it is setup as a v-tail quadrotor. It
has a KK2.0 flight control board from hobbyking (always out of stock but
lots of people sell them in the classifieds over at rcgroups.com), 16A
simon k flashed ESCs from readytoflyquads.com, Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 -
2822-1275 Brushless Outrunner Motors also from hobbyking, and APC 8x4.5M
props (2 need to be 8x4.6MR). I believe everything combined (not
including the GoPro camera or radio system) came out to about $250-$300.
You'll be fine if you go with that exact setup. I made the mistake of
going with different motors, and I was drawing too many amps from my
ESCs. I don't know if you're from the area or not, but we have a great
field in Halifax. Our website is www.wingbusters.org

Nice guy. Tell him 'thanks' again for me next time you see him. He is way more proficient at this RC
stuff than I am, but I copied all the info just in case I ever decide to build one of those from
scratch like he did. I wish we had a field close like the one he has. Nice!
