A Missouri lawmaker has proposed what ranks among the most
anti-evolution legislation in recent years, which would require schools
to notify parents if "the theory of evolution by natural selection" was
being taught at their child's school and give them the opportunity to
opt out of the class. [...]

“It’s an absolute infringement on people’s beliefs,” [State Rep. Rick
Brattin (R)] told the Kansas City Star of requiring schools to teach
evolution. “What’s being taught is just as much faith and, you know,
just as much pulled out of the air as, say, any religion."

At least he admits religion is "pulled out of the air".

I wonder why the faithful often denigrate concepts by equating them to
their faith. (evolution, climate change, etc.)

You post stuff to incite discord and insult others. You've stated your goal of destroying rec.boats.
How many posts do we need about Sarah Palin or Republican politicians?

Actually, John, rec.boats already is destroyed. I've only said I want to
be around for the very end. We have a poster here who has done a
wonderful job in rec.boats.cruising, and I'm sure he will do as well in
rec.boats.

No, actually it's quite a nice place to share information, experiences, questions, answers, trials,
and tribulations. Yup, there are a few here who have little more to do than inject obnoxious posts
into threads. But, consider who they are.
