I do understand, though, why gays are now more comfortable about announcing their preferences. They are no longer afraid of the "haters," who, for the most part, are the same people or the children of those people who also hated blacks, Latinos, womens' libbers, et cetera, and who gave those groups the same sort of treatment, and who were (and are) resentful of demonstrations of black pride, latino pride, et cetera.
