California man allegedly points gun at girl selling Girl Scout cookies

TEMECULA, CA -- A Temecula man was arrested for allegedly pointing a gun
at a girl who knocked on his door to sell Girl Scout cookies Sunday.

Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call on the 3100
block of Strawberry Tree Lane around 11:24 a.m.

According to police, when the victim knocked on John Dodrill's home, he
opened the door and pointed a gun at her. The girl's father witnessed
the incident and alerted police.

Officers arrested the 53-year-old suspect and confiscated the weapon.

Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio released a statement Monday saying that this
was an isolated incident.

"The safety of the girls is of paramount importance to Girl Scouts of
San Gorgonio," the statement said. "There is no record of anything like
this ever occurring in the past 90 years since Girl Scouts were
established in the area. The San Gorgonio Council has established rules
for door-to-door and cookie booth selling, and provides mandatory
training for all adults and girls."

The organization says girls are trained to never sell cookies without an
adult present, unless they are senior or ambassador scouts.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this
investigation was urged to contact Officer Garcia at the Southwest
Sheriff's Station at (951) 696-3000.

And then there was this:

Armed restaurant employee stops would be robber in his tracks

The tables quickly turned for a armed robbery suspect in Lancaster City after a sub shop employee
pulls out a gun and stops the robber in his tracks. The suspect entered Speed’s Sub Shop along the
300 block of East King Street around 10 p.m. on Friday night. He approached the employee behind the
counter –told him he had a gun and demanded money.

Instead of complying–the employee pulled out his own gun and pointed it at the suspect. The robber
was last seen fleeing the store empty handed.

Police say the suspect was a white male, approx. 20 years old and about 5’11? tall. He was last seen
wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 717-735-3300.

We do not have to get a permit to own a handgun at least. You now have to
pass a Handgun safety quiz.

After the last mall shooting here it took three days before the color of the shooter could be
determined. That's about when they published his photo.

You're right. I guess the media has us assume that the perp is black or
Latino unless they specify otherwise.
