Sorry, but I can't handle opera, especially sopranos. Like fingernails
on a chalkboard. I appreciate her talent but nothing I'd voluntarily or
pay to listen to.

I have arranged a Valentine's Day Concert event at the Performance Venue
associated with the guitar shop and have booked a really nice swing jazz
group led by Amanda Carr who I met a while back at the shop.
We're going to have tables, appropriate center pieces for Valentine's
Day and allow BYOB for wine and beer.

Amanda is an accomplished musician and singer. She has performed
several times with the Boston Pops and with leading Big Bands across the
country and parts of Europe. Big Band and jazz swing are her specialties.

She also has done the National Anthem several times at Fenway Park.
Here's one performance early in her singing career. The second link is
an example of one of her CD recordings:

Ahh, there are a few sopranos I really like. Perhaps a mezzo-soprano
might be more to your liking. Elina Garanca is smoooooooth. (!)

I can appreciate and enjoy many types of musical performances having had
a musician for a father and having played trumpet many times in the big
band orchestra that he performed with.

I enjoy symphony orchestra performances and have been to several. I
think I appreciate the perfection of the musician's abilities and the
timing they have. It often floors me that professional musicians can
put the exact expression in a piece, time after time based on how the
composer intended, rather than their personal preferences.

But opera? No way. That's where I draw the line. Does nothing for me.

Hopefully Fleming won't be an embarrassment, like these folks:

Not too wild about Amanda, either, but I'll chalk it up to nerves. She got much better as she got
into the song. Glad she didn't try to jump the octave on the 'free'.

Finally, someone who really can sing.

After that, I won't be watching the stupor bowl.

It may be worth watching. I could lose lots of money.

All it needs is to be played at "Mile High" Stadium:

Very good.

With all the second hand pot smoke in the Colorado air, the players are
sure to be affected. Should be fun to watch a game played in sloooow motion.

HLN had something on this AM about marijuana use in the NFL for players who've had concussions. They
could use the Super Bowl as a trial.

(I suppose I should have cut'n'pasted the whole thing. Sorry.)

I have a solution for those racist and sexist allegations against you.
Avoid mentioning gender or body parts that hint at gender, Also, avoid
mentioning the word that refers to the absence of color. Certain folks
here are very sensitive to the mention of any of those things. And for
Gods sake, don't make any reference to a supreme being.;-) Can you
handle all that? Oh one last thing. Be sure to laugh at all of Harry's
political crapola. He'll love you for it.

I can see you put a lot of thought into it. Much more than I, really. I will most certainly take
your comments under advisement.

But then again, I must consider the source of the allegations.

Well at least it's in English and didn't sound like someome was dropping
hot then cold water in her lap while she sang. Beats opera any day. JUST
MY HUMBLE OPINION for you Opera lovers out there.
