If I were to replace the plug wires in a boat with a 25 year old Moto Guzzi engine in it, where
could I get some plug wire? Used to be possible to buy a few feet of generic stuff. Now, my local
Advance Auto will sell only sets made up for specific models.

John it's not hard to custom make a wire. I think I have the remnants of a brand new set for a straight six GM with HEI ignition. If I remember correctly, you changed your engine over to HEI some time ago. This should do you well. I'll look monday and if I still have it, it goes out in the mail to you.

BTW, I had though of taking my Guzzi 750 engine and mounting it to a jet pump an putting it in a small v aluminum boat I have.

Don't see any reason why that shouldn't work....

As long as it gets enough air to keep cool, I'd think it would work. Many years ago, o/a late 80's,
the Israelis were buying Moto Guzzi engines to put in their unmanned aerial vehicles, drones. Don't
know if they're still doing it. Well, look what I found:

Interesting.

I wasn't looking to spend that much, but I'll use that as a fall back. With Tim's help I may not
need anything else.

Thank God for Tim!!

It depends on the loading curve of the pump and your engines hp curve.
It's a fun project but consider cooling and weight. Also thin aluminum
is a bitch to work with.

Any old jet-skis/wave-runners sitting around for cheap?

Oh it was just a passing thought. it's not going to happen. But I did think it would be an interesting project. I wasn't really worried about the load on a trash pump, but more concern was shrouding the engine for cooling.

BTW, in the 70's Guzzi used that same V-7 (750cc) engine on industrial cement mixers!!

There's a bit of history that I missed. You probably remember this one:

I saw it at the factory in Mandello. Hell of a machine for its time!
